About Us

Staines Chess Club is the only chess club in the boroughs of Runnymede and Spelthorne. We have members from Staines, Egham and the surrounding areas.

It is long established club, dating back to 1910.

We have recently moved to an exciting new venue, The literary Institute, and had a successful open day to promote our new home.

What we offer

Casual chess – We aim to have casual chess playing available every Thursday evening.

Competitive chess – Thames Valley Chess League matches (ECF rated). Club tournaments (ECF rated) including annual club blitz, rapid & classic championships.

Training – We organise training sessions hosted by our more experienced members.

On-line chess – We have clubs on both chess.com and lichess.org

Refreshments – We have access to the kitchen at the venue with hot drinks available.

Junior Chess

We currently don’t have a junior section but under 16’s are welcome to come along if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
