Established in 1910, Staines Chess Club brings together players from Staines, Egham and the surrounding area for casual and competitive chess.

A proper chess club — without the barriers.

Staines Chess Club is the only chess club in the boroughs of Runnymede and Spelthorne. Our members range from social players to experienced league competitors, and new visitors are welcome.

  • Casual chess every Thursday evening
  • ECF-rated Thames Valley Chess League matches
  • Annual blitz, rapid and classical club championships
  • Training hosted by experienced members

  • Tea, coffee and kitchen access at the venue
  • A dedicated Junior Chess session on Thursdays from 6:00–7:00pm
