17th October 2026 – Kligan Braganca wins Staines Rapid Championship

16th October 2026 – Staines A draw with Ealing B in season opener
Staines A began their Division Two campaign with a hard-fought 3–3 draw against Ealing B, with the final board deciding the result. Read the match report and game analysis.
6th October 2026 – Staines B make winning start at Hounslow
Staines B opened their Division Four campaign with an excellent 4½–1½ away win over Hounslow B. Read the match report and game analysis.
28th September 2026 – Staines win Surrey Border League opener at Guildford
Staines won 3–2 away to Guildford C. Kishan Zala secured the first result of the night in a nine-move game. Read the match report and game analysis; further board accounts will be added.
24th September 2026 – Holger Buckemeyer Wins Blitz Grand Prix Stage 3
Thirteen players competed in the nine-round, 5+3 Swiss tournament. Congratulations to Holger Buckemeyer, who won with 8/9. Alex McTavish finished second on 6.5/9, with Colin Aniecko third on 5.5/9.
Siddarth Ramaraju, David Bean, Liam O’Sullivan and Phil Bower all finished on 5/9, taking fourth through seventh place in that order on tie-break.

4th September 2026 – David Bean Wins the Staines Chess Club Championship
Congratulations to David Bean, winner of the 2026 Staines Chess Club Championship. David finished an excellent six-round campaign with 5½/6, a full point clear of runner-up Paul Seymour on 4½/6. Alex McTavish took third place on tie-break after finishing on 4/6, alongside Kligan Braganca and Ye Kyaw.

9th July 2026 – Liam Wins the Second Stage of our Grand Prix Blitz
The second stage of our Grand Prix Blitz. A 9 round blitz with 5+3 time control. Twelve members entered including two juniors. Congratulations to Liam for first place with 7.5/9 and to Kligan for finishing a close second with 7/9.

Wimbledon B 0.5-5.5 Staines A. Last match of the season for the A team and a crucial win. We nervously await the remaining fixtures.
2nd April 2026 – Alex wins the First Stage of our Blitz Grand Prix
The first stage of our Blitz Grand Prix. A 9 round Swiss with 5+3 time control. The evening was great fun with eleven members participating. Congratulations to Alex for first place with an impressive 7/9. A commendable second place for Paul Seymour with 6.5/9.

26th March 2026 – Our “B” Team Secures Second Place in Division X
Staines B 3-1 Kingston C. Last match of the season for the B team and victory against Kingston C secures second place in Division X.
15th December 2025
Kingston C 1.5-2.5 Staines B. The B team are finding their stride. Good wins for Alex and Rishi. In Paul’s game a draw was agreed in a complex position. The half point was all that was needed for the team win.
4th December 2025
Staines A 1.5-4.5 Wimbledon B. We were missing Derek & Siddarth for this one. Liam scored an excellent draw against a strong player and Alex chalked up a win on his A team debut.
20th November 2025
Staines A 3.5-2.5 Surbiton B. Up to third in the league with another close victory against a strong Surbiton side.
12th November 2025
Surbiton D 1.5-2.5 Staines B. The first win of the season for our B team. Good wins for Lee and Rishi plus a solid draw for Alex on his Staines debut secured the win.
6th November 2025
Staines A 3-3 Hounslow A. Another win for Paul and a successful Kingside attack from David secured the draw against our local rivals.
4th November 2025
Richmond & Twickenham B 2.5-3.5 Staines A. Our first win of the season. Another quick win for Siddarth followed by solid draws on the top three boards left Paul to bring home the points with a time scramble win.
30th October 2025
Staines A 2.5-3.5 Wimbledon A. The first home match of the season proved to be a close encounter. Liam scored a quick win with a strong Kingside attack. Derek managed a solid draw on the top board. After defeats for Dom and David it was left to Paul and Ye to fight for the points. Paul had good chances but faltered under time pressure. Ye showed great endgame technique to win with both players running out of time.
20th October 2025
Maidenhead B 5-1 Staines A. The first match of the season for the A team and a tricky encounter with our top two players unavailable. Despite the score line all the games were closely fought and could have gone either way. Solid draws for Paul and Siddarth. Our newer players, Lee & Liam, could not quite convert promising positions. David threw away an easy drawn ending in time pressure.
7th October 2025
Richmond and Twickenham E 3-1 Staines B. Our first match of the season proved to be a tough encounter with mixed fortunes for our new players. Lee found himself in a unique position with both players down on material after Lee’s opponent knocked the table and pieces were sent to the floor.

We celebrated our promotion to Thames Valley Chess League Division 2 with a meal at the Harvester in Staines. Great fun was had by all!
22nd May 2025
Our First Staines Blitz Tournament. The format was a 6-round swiss with 5min+3sec time control. Congratulations to Siddarth for finishing top with 6/6 and to Jon for a close second.
16th April 2025
Our last match of the season away to Surbiton. We needed at least a draw to be sure of promotion. We fielded a strong team and ended up comfortable winners by 4.5-1.5.
